Background
Dr. Beniamino Cappelletti Montano ("Mino" for friends) was born on April 1978 in Canosa di Puglia.
He attended the High School getting the school leaving certificate on 1997 with a score of 60/60 and winning the first prize at the XI Premio "Paul Harris" Rotary Club as the best High School student in the school year 1996/1997.
He got the degree in Mathematics at the University of Bari on December 2001 with a score of 110/110 cum laude, winning the first prize at the Degree Awards Bridgestone/Firestone Italia S.p.a. as the the best graduate at the Universities of Bari and Lecce of the academic year 2000/2001. Then he obtained a post-graduated Master 's Degree in Quantitative methods and computer sciences for economic decisions. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics with scholarship at the University of Bari on May 2006 defending the thesis Legendrian foliations on almost S-manifolds (advisors: Proff. A. M. Pastore and R. Wolak). During his Ph.D. he spent a 5-months stay at the Institute of Mathematics of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow.
He worked as post-doc at the University of Bari and as a visiting researcher at the Centre de Recerca Matematica of Bellaterra (Spain) and at the CMUC of Coimbra (Portugal) under a grant of Regione Puglia.
Moreover, he won a short post-doctoral scholarship at IMUS of Sevilla (Spain) and a 1-year research position of Ministry of Education of Spain.
From January 2011 he is a tenured assistant professor ("ricercatore universitario") at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Cagliari.
His research interests deal with Differential Geometry and in particular with contact Riemannian geometry.
He is a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews and Zentralblatt-Math, and he is/was a referee for the following international journals: Journal of Geometry and Physics, Extracta Mathematica, Glasgow Mathematical Journal, Mathematica Pannonica, Creative Mathematics and Informatics, Matematicki Vesnik, Annales Polonici Mathematici, Novi Sad Journal of Mathematics, Publicationes Mathematicae Debrecen, International Electronic Journal of Geometry, Central European Journal of Mathematics, Analele Stiintificie Ale Universitatii "A. I. Cuza" Din Iasi, Mediterranean Journal of Mathematics.
